We’re excited to welcome Abby Simpson to our team this fall as our Communications Intern! Currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising at Duquesne University with a minor in Communication Studies, Abby has already demonstrated her commitment to the field.
Her experience extends far beyond the classroom, as Abby has gained real-world expertise through a variety of internships and leadership roles. Most recently, she served as a Social Media Intern at Anthem Marketing Group, where she sharpened her skills in graphic design, video editing, and trend research. Before that, she worked as a Digital Intern with the Pittsburgh Penguins, creating engaging content and contributing to photography efforts for one of Pittsburgh’s most iconic sports organizations. She also serves as Director of Marketing for Duquesne’s ACHA hockey team, overseeing social media accounts, managing interns, and organizing special events that bring fans together.
Outside of her professional roles, Abby is deeply involved in campus life. She is a Resident Assistant with Duquesne’s Office of Residence Life, a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), and part of the Kappa Tau Alpha National Journalism Honor Society. Other people notice Abby’s leadership skills, too — her proudest accomplishment so far is being named Resident Assistant of the Year for her building.
At MK, we adore our pets, and Abby is no different! She enjoys spending time with her two cats, Alaska and Lavender. In fact, if she weren’t pursuing communications, Abby could see herself as a zookeeper, a nod to her love of animals and her dream of supporting wildlife preservation.
Abby describes herself as loyal, committed, and passionate — all qualities that shine both in her work and in her personal life. A morning person at heart, she loves running along the Three Rivers HeritageTrail, exploring local bookstores, and traveling whenever she gets the chance. Her favorite trip so far was Zurich, Switzerland, and a gorilla hike in Africa is at the top of her bucket list.
As she looks ahead to graduation this December, Abby has titled this chapter of her life “The Final Countdown.” She’s excited to continue learning, growing, and contributing to the communications field, and we’re thrilled to have her contribute her skills to our clients’ needs this semester.
Welcome, Abby! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish.
