Have you ever needed to get your creative juices flowing but don’t know where to start? At Mindful Kreative, our tried-and-true method for producing creative projects for our clients is a brainstorming session!

Brainstorming, by definition, is a creative thinking technique used to produce new ideas, solve problems, and generate discussion. Brainstorms can be helpful in personal or professional settings, and are all about letting your mind flow and be spontaneous.

If you want to get the most out of your next brainstorming session, check out these five tips below and keep them in mind the next time you’re ready to come up with some new ideas!

Tip 1: More minds are better than one

While it’s possible to brainstorm on your own, more minds are always better than one when it comes to generating ideas! Collaborative brainstorming is a surefire way to make the most of your time to think of the perfect solution.

Tip 2: Know your goal

Before any brainstorming session, everyone involved should be aware of the purpose of the brainstorm. Whether you’re thinking of a title for a project, ways to approach a problem, or just simply generating ideas, all participants in a brainstorm should be clear on this goal so they can think and share accordingly.

Tip 3: Create a judgement-free zone

This is the time to let your mind run wild and become your most innovative, creative self. In order for participants to share their most out-of-the-box ideas, the brainstorm needs to be a judgement-free zone. All ideas should be shared – sometimes, the most seemingly outlandish ideas end up being the perfect fit!

Tip 4: Quantity is key

With brainstorming, the more ideas the merrier. Part of the process when generating ideas is to let each one that crosses your mind out into the open. Even if your idea isn’t exactly used, it could help lead your team to the final outcome.

Tip 5: Combine ideas

Brainstorming is like cooking – to come up with the final dish, you have to combine your ingredients. If you come out of your brainstorm with multiple ideas, try to combine them! There are no rules; a brainstorm is meant to lead you to your ideal finished product, no matter the path it takes to get there.

So, next time you’re ready to bounce some ideas around, remember these tips and get brainstorming!
